We’ve decided that we need a 3rd London red bus to cover areas of the Parish of Greasley that are not covered…so that residents living between Baker Road in Newthorpe and Coach Drive in Eastwood have access to a bus throughout the day. The new route will cover Mill Road, Lower Beauvale, Greenhills Road, Main Street all along to Baker Road, as well as Pinfold Road.
There are new surprises as well as some familiar characters!
More entertainments, choirs, demonstrations and activities are already booked!
Watch this space for more news as we get everything ready for the day!
Started a little murky, but by 12 o’clock the sun had come out, and brought sunshine to the event.
And what an event- much bigger and much better than in the previous years. Lots of things to do for families, lots of entertainments, creativity and refreshments.
The Stormtroopers were a hit – no dancing though! And there was something very imposing about Darth Vader.
The buses ran continuously from 11.30 until 5.30, as Blackmore Commercials brought 3 drivers and 3 clippies with them, so that there were no breaks. We are very grateful to the company for thinking of this. This is the first time we have used them and they were an asset to the day.
However the day would not have been possible without sponsorships and donations. We are extremely grateful to the following for their contributions:
Broxtowe Borough Council
Greasley Parish Council – grant and use of facilities
Councillor Phil Owen
Gillotts Funeral Services for providing volunteers as stewards
Warburtons for tea cakes and crumpets
The following made contributions for the Tombola:
Boots
Sainsbury’s, Kimberley
Thorntons
Blue Monkey
Denby Pottery
Crich Museum
White Post Farm

There are many other entertainments taking place throughout the day: Alex-Walkabout magician, Wonder Wheels Workshop, Inflatables and fun rides, Guests from Starwars, Playworks, Woodturners, numerous activities and stalls. And more……
The red London buses will start running from 11.30am until 5.30pm. The starting point will be at The Greasley Sports and Community Centre on Dovecote Road. Special Greasley Gathering bus signs will be placed at specific bus-stops along the route. Please be aware that the buses will not run after 5.30pm.
Just a leaflet to show what is going on and where…….

Without the kind donations from Broxtowe Borough Council, The Greasley Parish Council and local County Councillor, we would not be able to hold such a fantastic event.
Don’t forget the date for your diaries…30th May 2016
They’re back again….two of them
The red London buses have been hired and we’ll be seeing two of them ferrying people all over the Parish of Greasley. This year the company providing the buses are Blackmore Commercials Ltd, based in Nottingham. The festooned buses will help to promote the festive feeling of the day.
What else is new this year?
A family orientated brass band based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. They were formed over 80 years ago, originally as the Stanton Ironworks Band. As well as the main band they have a training band, both of whom we hope to see perform.
Have a go on this amazing collection of weird and wonderful bikes: uni-cycles, Penny Farthings, bendy bikes, tall bikes, small bikes, fun-wheels and more. Ride the unrideable bike!
from our resident children’s magician Don Chambers. Did you know that Don is the longest serving member of the Nottingham Guild of magicians?
AND….so you don’t get bored while waiting for the bus we have another magician Alex Michael. You need to be really sharp to spot his tricks. Alex is also a local award winning ‘close-up’ magician, who combines comedy with his magic.
Some surprising visitors from Star Wars!!
What else will be there?
