Month: June 2016
What a day!
Started a little murky, but by 12 o’clock the sun had come out, and brought sunshine to the event.
And what an event- much bigger and much better than in the previous years. Lots of things to do for families, lots of entertainments, creativity and refreshments.
The Stormtroopers were a hit – no dancing though! And there was something very imposing about Darth Vader.
The buses ran continuously from 11.30 until 5.30, as Blackmore Commercials brought 3 drivers and 3 clippies with them, so that there were no breaks. We are very grateful to the company for thinking of this. This is the first time we have used them and they were an asset to the day.
However the day would not have been possible without sponsorships and donations. We are extremely grateful to the following for their contributions:
Broxtowe Borough Council
Greasley Parish Council – grant and use of facilities
Councillor Phil Owen
Gillotts Funeral Services for providing volunteers as stewards
Warburtons for tea cakes and crumpets
The following made contributions for the Tombola:
Boots
Sainsbury’s, Kimberley
Thorntons
Blue Monkey
Denby Pottery
Crich Museum
White Post Farm
